Mexico City Program

Enriching ​Perspectives: ​Immersive Studies in ​Mexican Culture and ​Language

This course offers participants the opportunity to ​immerse themselves in the culture, history, and ​language of Mexico. Through a combination of online ​instruction, experiential learning activities, and cultural ​excursions, students will gain a deeper understanding ​of cultural awareness. Earn 1.5 CEUs!

Program Objectives

  • Cultural Immersion: To provide participants with an immersive experience in Mexican culture, allowing ​them to gain a deeper understanding of its traditions, history, language, and customs through firsthand ​experiences.
  • Cross-Cultural Competence: To foster the development of cross-cultural competence among ​participants, enabling them to navigate diverse cultural contexts effectively and respectfully, both in ​Mexico and in their future endeavors.
  • Academic Enrichment: To enhance participants' academic learning through the integration of ​experiential learning opportunities, such as site visits, cultural activities, and interactions with local ​experts, complemented by an online course on Global Competence.
  • Personal Growth: To promote personal growth and self-awareness among participants by challenging ​them to step out of their comfort zones, adapt to new environments, and embrace cultural differences ​with an open mind and positive attitude.
  • Global Citizenship: To cultivate a sense of global citizenship and social responsibility among participants, ​encouraging them to critically reflect on their own cultural perspectives and societal values while ​engaging with diverse communities in Mexico.
  • Program Evaluation and Improvement: To solicit feedback from participants throughout the program and ​upon completion, in order to continuously evaluate and improve the program's structure, content, and ​delivery methods, ensuring its relevance and effectiveness for future cohorts.

Program Overview

Group Cultural ​Excursions

Experience Mexico City's vibrant history ​and culture through guided tours of ​iconic landmarks and interactive ​cultural activities. Each day enriches ​your understanding of this capital city, ​whether you're fascinated by ancient ​ruins, colonial architecture, or ​improving your language skills in an ​authentic setting.

Independent Travel & Research

Participants will have the opportunity to explore Mexico ​independently, allowing for a personalized journey through the ​country's diverse landscapes, cities, and cultural sites. This self-​directed exploration serves as the foundation for gathering research ​essential to completing assignments and projects. It ensures a ​comprehensive learning experience that integrates academic rigor ​with authentic cultural immersion. Engage firsthand with local ​customs, languages, and daily life, gaining a deeper appreciation for ​Mexico's rich cultural diversity.

Asychronus ​Online Course

Following the travel segment, ​participants can finish the remaining ​assignments and projects at your own ​pace, drawing from the research ​conducted during your independent ​travel.


This online component complements ​the experiential learning gained during ​travel.

Program Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen, Permanent Resident or DACA Recipient.
  • Applicants are required to demonstrate a clear criminal history.
  • Attendance at scheduled excursions is mandatory for all participants.
  • Participants are required to possess a valid passport with an expiration date no more than six ​months from the commencement of the program.
  • Must be 21+ years of age to participate.

Earn CEUs

CEUs are available from The University of Arizona office of ​Continuing & Professional Education. *Participants are ​encouraged to consult with their respective academic ​institutions to ascertain the applicability of the CEU units ​earned towards their degree program requirements.

The program fee does not cover the USCIS ​Advance Parole Fee ($630).


Upon acceptance into the program, a non-​refundable deposit of $350 is required to ​secure your place. The remaining $600 can be ​paid upfront or through a payment plan of your ​choice.
